A Journey from Newsrooms to AAC… with a Few Detours

Once upon a time, I was graciously allowed to be part of a digital news team in Prague, believing my future lay in headlines and deadlines. But somewhere between chasing stories and navigating a foreign language, I realized my real passion was communication—the kind that goes beyond words. So, I packed my bags (again), and got my master's to be an SLP.

Since then, I’ve worn many hats—bilingual SLP, AAC Consultant, elementary robotics coach, and most recently, marathon runner (jury’s still out on whether that was a good idea). My work in AAC is part strategy, part problem-solving, and a whole lot of making sure kids get the tools they need to communicate. I’ve spent years shifting AAC from something seen as “extra” to something essential, making it more accessible, intuitive, and—dare I say—fun.

I believe in breaking barriers, solving problems, and making things easier for the next person. If you’re up for rethinking how to approach AAC, let’s connect. Bonus points if you bring snacks—I take my role as “overprepared Dad with snacks” very seriously and we may just be kindred spirits.
